League of Legends: Yasuo Thoughts
Wait, Manji?
So, Riot has released a preview for the next champion... a samurai... describing this in a couple of words... TOOK YOU FOUR YEARS TO MAKE A SAMURAI? Riot Pls. As an Otaku and a Samurai enthusiast, yet alone, Japanese Culture. I love they're finally making a true Samurai instead of Master Yi. My predictions for Yasuo is he is going to either be top laner or jungler. I just hope they don't make him as weak as Lucian. If he's god tier in his respective role, I'm defiantly going to main him. His ult in my opinion should be something like Xin Zhao's ult where he spins around and does tons of damage, but not knocking everyone around him back, but instead doing an execution move called Iaijutsu to fit the Samurai's culture. Those are some of my thoughts for Yasuo.

Akihiko Styker!! 3.P Ultimate Combat Ninja
From the Complete Adventurer to Pathfinder’s Ultimate Combat blessed the Ninja class a much needed boost so it could compete with the other martial classes. Wandering the baron lands called the internet, I stumbled upon a local Pathfinder group looking for one additional player. By using the forbidden arts I acquired at the ninja academy, I was able to sneak into the gaming syndicate that was located in the GM’s basement. Since the updates from 3.0/3.5 to Pathfinder, ninjas were very lack-luster compared to the other stealthy classes such as the ranger, rogue, scout, etc. I love doing tons of damage and playing that striker role in the group and with the current party lacking a sneaky character, I decided to play a combat ninja to compliment them. The decision was very easy once I saw the buffs that the ninja received in Pathfinder. Back in D&D, ninjas were simply inferior to everyone and wasn’t very viable unless you build him perfectly, but now, they can compete with other classes. So, without further ado, I bring you my current 3.P Ninja.
He rose from the ashes like a phoenix, starting his life in the city slums to being adopted into a rich, noble family. Being a street brawling delinquent at night while studying to be an heir to the family business during the day, I introduce the beguiling ninja himself, Akihiko Stryker. Before even designing my ninja and with every character I design, I give them a unique background. After reviewing the story for the ninja, I realize that it sounds like Prince (Prince of Persia) without the family being a crime syndicate and the whole romance part.
Akihiko was raised on the city streets as an orphan. Performing petty crimes on a daily basis such as theft, trespassing, and assault. His caretakers back at orphanage couldn’t get through to Akihiko, teaching good morals and ethics were nearly impossible to teach. The memories before his childhood is a void to him. He can’t remember where he even came from or who were his true parents. Blocked by an colossal mountain of lies and a thick shroud of mystery.
During his elementary years, one of his slum buddies dared him to infiltrate the House of Sin, steal the family amulet passed from generation to generation, and get out without being caught by any of the royal guards. No one declines a dare, especially Akihiko. With his nimbleness and stealth abilities, he was able to sneak past all the guards and access into the manor.Finding the amulet was a breeze, but getting caught was another thing. Shortly after he was apprehended and captured, he was held until Helios Sin, the head of the house figures out his punishment. The man just smirked as he glared at the boy, knowing how Helios is the most wealthiest man in the city, he was probably going to execute the little delinquent. When Akihiko thought he was going to be killed for his crime, a hand reached out to him, the man said, “I see so much potential in you, my boy, would you like to leave the city streets and come live in my estate?” The noble saw his prowess and potential in Akihiko, but his true intentions was still a mystery and from that day forward, he was now a family member of the House of Sin.
The years to come became tedious from the schooling to prestigious social even. Even though Helios took him in as his son, Akihiko missed his urban shenanigans and misadventures. As the moon rises and the day became night, he would retreat to city slums and participate in the street fighting. The slums were the best place to find an ongoing brawl. Akihiko has a passion for martial arts. but his family forbidden him from ever learning it. Street fighting though, taught him a very unique unarmed fighting style, consisting quick blows and dirty tactics. Fencing tutors would occasionally come over to the manor and give short lessons on friendly dueling, but it was unfulfilling. Being a noble had it’s perks, but the voice of the city was calling Akihiko’s name.
Noble girls only cared about the money and control, but Akihiko had no interest with that type. Alot of people either participated in the city rumbles or you were part of the massive crowd that watch the brutality of the fights. Roars echoed throughout the alleyways and disturbing the peace, making the city guards racing to the scene, but the audience was so big, the guards couldn't stop the riots. One night though, Akihiko became one of the best fighters the people have ever known, but tonight, he would be fighting his archrival, Garet Xavier, considerably the greatest brawler whoever walked the earth, but something distracted him that night. He gazed on most beautiful girl he has seen in his life. neither a gypsy or a tavern maid. She was goddess in a mortal body, With her long jet black hair and elegant brown eyes. For the entirety of the match, his mind was clouded because of her. His mind wasn't strait and before he knew it, Akihiko was down on the ground with Garet claiming victory. The girl had her full attention to the boy that was laying down in defeat and as Akihiko first opened his eyes, that girl stood before him with graceful smile. Their eyes locked and with neither of them exchanging words, both of them came close to each other and the rest can be predicted.
His family caught wind of Akihiko’s activities after dark so they planned to do something to make him regret disobeying them. No one in the public knows that the House of Sin is one of the most powerful crime syndicates in the world. Generous , caring noble family on the outside, cruel and sadistic in the inside. Sin agents dispatched by Helios himself were sent to murder the girl Akihiko loved the most, Naomi. Killed in the middle of the night, Akihiko was devastated when he learned the rumors were true and went into a suicidal depression. It didn’t stop him from sneaking out and pulling one night stands with any girl he sees to try to sooth the pain he was undergoing. Street fighting was put on hold after Naomi’s death, but one of his house servants notified him that his own family that took him in, murdered his true love. Seeking retribution, he trains himself, developing his own fighting style to take down his own family and watch their organization fall.
Even though the ninja received many buffs in Pathfinder, the class itself still falls off in the later levels with all the other martial classes. Hours of dedicated reading and skimming through entire books gave me a rough draft for Akihiko to compete at his fullest potential. After pondering for a while, I decided to go with a Ninja 5/Monk 2/Shadowdancer 3/Shadow Sun Ninja 10. The two level dip in monk allows me to pick up two more bonus feats, evasion, and Stunning Fist is now considered a monk class feature so I can get another feat with stunning fist. In Pathfinder, Flurry of Blows doesn’t have the -1/-1 penalties at level two monk, but has +0/+0 now. With Akihiko, I wanted to give this “Yin-Yang” personality where he gets enlightens for a greater cause, but along the way become corrupted from an evil source. So the idea of Monk to Shadowdancer fits both my build and my actual character’s story. One of the tricks I came up with is to pick up the ninja trick, Shadow Clone at level two and use the Shadowdancer’s abilities to manipulate the shadows like switch places with them so I can get concealment bonuses. Shadowdancer gives my character many class features like Hide in Plain Sight, Uncanny Dodge, and Darkvision. (Akihiko is human and not being able to see in the dark is a thing.) For the final prestige class that will finish off Akihiko’s build, the Shadow Sun Ninja.
“A Shadow Sun Ninja is a martial artist who studies the balance between good and evil.” The class itself has excellent flavor itself such as “Touch of the Shadow Sun” and “Child of Shadow and Light” that meshes well with his background and gives my ninja dominant powers to back it up. Being able to control both light and darkness sounds cool by itself. It also furthers the progression of the monk class abilities, but I wish it could do the same with the ninja’s class features such as Sudden Strike (Now just Sneak Attack in Pathfinder) and Ki Powers.
Feats
1. Weapon Finesse - Dex. instead of Str. for your Attack Bonus, Strength = Dump Stat
